VLC Media Player

VLC Media Player is an open source, free, portable, cross platform and streaming media server. The VLC was developed by VideoLAN project. It is widely available for various platforms like desktop operating system and mobile platforms as Android, Tizen, iOS and windows phone. Moreover, it is also available in app stores like Apple’s App Store, Google Play and Microsoft Store. Including DVD-Video, Video CD and other streaming options VLC supports various other audio and video file formats along with compression methods too. It can also stream media over networks and converts multimedia files.

Being a packet oriented media player, VLC media player can play almost all types of videos. It can also play some of those damaged, incomplete, unfinished files which are still being downloaded through peer to peer network.It can play H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 2 video as well as support FLV or MXF file with the help of FFmpeg’s libraries. It is taken as one of those software which directly ignores DVD region coding which makes it a region-free media player.

It can play some extrem quality video files. It can play HD recording f D-VHS tapes which must be duplicated using CapDVHS.exe. Therefore, it provides new way to get all D-VHS tape. It can stream live, unencrypted media to a monitor with the FireWire connection. The coolest of all features is that, VLC media player can play video as a desktop wallpaper, but in Windows Operating System only. A screencast option allows you to record the screen or the desktop and save the recorded file.
