Important Google Chrome Settings
Google Chrome is the mostly used and loved web browser worldwide. Because of it’s user-friendly, fast and secure nature. Obviously Chrome is a browser of Google, that’s why Google is updating the Chrome browser timely to provide us new features/settings. And today we’re going to talk about those new as well as old features that some of us are using and some of us aren’t.
These features / settings are available in all platforms (i.e. Windows, Android, Apple, linux, unix etc.) that supports Chrome Browser. Let’s begin to explore those features:
- Parallel Downloading
Parallel Downloading simply enhances your downloading experience in chrome. Must of us have faced errors while downloading a large file from chrome browser time and time again. This is not a 100% fix for that specific problem but it somehow helps to accelerate the download speed.
To enable this setting, just go to chrome://Flags and then search for Parallel Downloading option from search bar. After that drop down the Default option and select Enable option from dropdown menu.
- Automatic Tab Discarding
Yes, this option is helpful for those users who always opens up a lot of tabs in their browser. Some of us has to open up for some reason and some of us just do it. It has both advantage and disadvantage. If you have a high-end device, then this is not a problem for you. But of you have medium-spec or low-end device, then this feature comes handy.
Opening a lot of tabs in a browser eats up your device’s RAM and slow down your device. The Automatic Tab Discarding option will simply discard or remove the tab from memory only not from browser, and reloads when you click the browser.
To enable this feature, just go to chrome://Flags and then search for Automatic Tab Discarding option from search bar. After that drop down the Default option and select Enable option from dropdown menu.
- Duck Duck Go Over Google
Duck Duck Go is a search engine like google but it is provides more privacy than chrome. With a new update of Google Chrome, users can choose the option of Duck Duck Go as their default search engine.
To make Duck Duck Go as your default search engine, head towards chrome://settings and search for Search Engine and click the dropdown menu and select Duck Duck Go as your default search engine. Duck Duck Go doesn’t stores users data or any kinds of tracking sources.
- Drive Files Via Omnibox
Omnibox also known as address bar is one of the powerful feature/setting in Google Chrome. With Omnibox enabled, you can search your query from your search bar to directly the site you want to show the result of your query on.
To enable this feature, head towards chrome://flags and search for omnibox drive and click the dropdown menu and select Enable.
- Shortcuts for Extensions
There are many extensions on your browser and this features comes handy when you have a lot of them in your browser. You can choose any shortcut option that suits you, to open these extensions when needed.
If you want to create a shortcut for your extensions in chrome then go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts and set-up your shortcut for each of your extensions available in your browser and enjoy the chroming experience.
